The Gift of Failure
Through unconditional forgiveness I am filled to overflowing with God’s love

The Gift of Failure

In turn this gave my turquoise ring meaning again.  As the beneficiary of God’s undeserved blessings I now look at my ring – look at my failure to be worthy of God’s blessings – as a gift itself.  Because I acknowledge my inability to pay the demands of Justice --- because I trust that my Savior paid these demands for me as my substitute --- and because I believe this appeasement of Justice allows Mercy to reign; I live life without fear!  My imperfection, my failures, my sin – my insufficient self-worth – does not disqualify me from being filled to overflowing with God’s love.

Instead I see that recognizing my inability to qualify for that love with my imperfect and insufficient works was a necessary step to hearing the truth… .  I needed to give up on my Self before I would hear my Lord calling me saying “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Before I heard my Master calling I had to recognize the impossibility of the burden I carried – namely the burden of forgiveness, Eternal Life and Heavenly Father’s other blessings predicated on being worthy to receive them!.  My failure to qualify for Heavenly Father’s blessings set me free from that impossible slavery!
